in 1985 by Marilyn Crane, in memory of Carter Crane, the Carter Crane
Homeless Shelter is a warm, comfortable, and safe haven for down and
out homeless people.
The shelter is the only local facility where clients can stay for
a period up to six (6) weeks. The shelter is a home like environment
and simultaneously provides them with strong supportive advocacy orientated
case management services to assist in finding employment, permanent
housing, and education. There is a network of other resources that
empowers them to achieve their life goals and become productive members
of our community.
MISSION STATEMENT: Our mission
is for 100% of our clients and families to become self-sufficient. The
recipients are of all age groups, faiths, races and are considered below
the economic poverty level.
Lawton-Ft. Sill United Way, City of Lawton CDBG Program, along with
various state and federal grants fund the shelter. The balance comes
from local contributions and donation.
The Carter Crane Shelter has only one criteria
- our clients are homeless and over the age of 18, unless they have
a parent residing with them.
